E KOMO MAI
Welcome to the website of the Hawaii State Student Council (HSSC), the official representation of Hawaii’s 185,000 public school students. The council is comprised of members spanning the several islands of the state who meet on a regular basis to discuss students concerns and action to remedy the present and future issues of education and student life.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW CHAIRPERSON
I am extremely honored to be this year’s Hawaii State Student Council Chairperson. Speaking for myself and the executive board, we are asking you for your support for this upcoming school year!
This year I am challenging you, and the Hawaii State Student Council to practice the acronym S.T.E.P. (Selfless, Tenacious, Extraordinary, and Purposeful). Every second, every minute, and every day we are taking a step into our future. As leaders we must be selfless, and sometimes that means we must make sacrifices for the greater good. In life we are thrown into tough situations, thus we must be determined to surpass the roadblocks in our lives. When we are given the opportunity to be extraordinary, take it by the horns and run with it, so you will be able to inspire keiki after us. In life there is a purpose for everything. Find your purpose, so that you will accomplish remarkable results.
As the future of Hawaii, It is our job to guarantee that the changes made today will impact the years to come positively. Although we are not alone, We will stand beside our schools, our communities, and our state to create an everlasting imprint on our beloved land together.
I look forward to working with you, to help me and one of the most diverse councils to make the Hawaii State Student Council excel to its maximum potential. As we begin the new school year I wish you nothing, but the best.

ENGAGE WITH US
The Hawaii State Student Council is the voice of Hawaii’s 185,000 public school students. The council meets on a regular basis to discuss student issues and youth concerns, and members also address issues before the state Legislature and Hawaii State Board of Education.
HSSC gains its strength from the present network of student councils (state, districts, and schools); however, we would like to expand upon the status quo. We want to establish a network that comprises every student in the state. Hawaii students can accomplish this ambitious goal by taking part in student government and staying informed on the issues.
Our website offers students information on the council’s activities, education updates, and statewide resources. The website further facilitates our desire to hear from our peers, so give us an email–tell us what you think or join our Facebook group and subscribe to our “Tweets.” Developing this network is key to growing in our capacity to initiate change in our schools and communities. We are the voice of the students of Hawaii.
